Transport > Access

The main entrance into NorthBridge will be opposite Lancaster Way (which leads into Ermine Street Business Park). This entrance will be controlled by traffic lights which will react to the traffic flow patterns of the junction and will control the traffic from the development and the business park accordingly. These traffic lights will also allow safe pedestrian and cyclist crossing at this junction.

The second access point is in the north-east of NorthBridge and will be reserved for emergency vehicles, buses, cyclist and pedestrians only. Cars will be prevented from using the entrance by the use of a ‘bus gate’. This entrance will adopt a ‘left-turn only’ system to minimise delays. It will also reduce the amount of traffic at the main entrance. There will be a toucan crossing for pedestrians at this entrance, with a central island to ensure the crossing is safe and to reduce traffic speeds.

Pedestrian and cycle access will also be provided via the footbridge over the A141 from the south-eastern corner of the development, linking NorthBridge with Huntingdon. The footbridge will provide a safe pedestrian and cyclist-friendly route to Huntingdon town centre for both new residents and existing employees at the business park - a link that is currently missing from the area. The bridge could replace the at-road pedestrian crossings which currently contribute to queues and delays on the road. Click here to read more about the footbridge.

New public footpaths will be created to link NorthBridge to The Stukeleys, Huntingdon Race Course, Brampton and Hinchingbrooke Park. The western footpath will use the existing farm accommodation bridge to cross the A14.
