STATEMENT FROM PERSIMMON HOMES EAST MIDLANDS REGARDING "NORTHBRIDGE", OFF ERMINE STREET, HUNTINGDON
Since the submission of the NorthBridge planning application in February 2005, the proposals have been the subject of considerable consultation and scrutiny by all relevant consultation bodies and interested members of the public. The outcome of these consultations together with changes arising from the way the Highways Agency has required Persimmon Homes to address traffic impact, have resulted in a numbers of revisions to the scheme which in turn have required further public consultation.
Many of the changes introduced are as a direct result of concerns expressed particularly in relation to traffic impact. The revised Transport Assessment and Travel Plan submitted in January 2007 sought specifically to reduce both traffic generated by the development and existing traffic by encouraging people to use modes of transport other than the car and introduce enhanced sustainable transport. The introduction of a new bus service together with improved footpath and cycleway links from the site to the town will help to achieve a level of sustainability not previously seen within Huntingdon.
As the proposals continue to be considered by the District Council, Persimmon Homes remains committed to public engagement, either through direct contact via the web-site or through the District Council as Planning Authority.
