Development Process

This flow chart shows the different stages in the planning process and where we are so far:

Huntingdonshire District Council publish their Local Plan Alteration (2002), which states the need for more homes in the area. This identifies the land west of Ermine Street as a site on which to build new homes

Persimmon Homes carry out a comprehensive investigation and research programme examining site characteristics and opportunities

In February 2005, an outline planning application is submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council

February 2005: Public Consultation begins

In September 2005, Huntingdonshire District Council request Persimmon Homes to provide further information to supplement the planning application already submitted.

In January 2006, a comprehensive update of the Environmental Statement submitted to the Council for formal approval. In conjunction with this, a Supplementary Transport Assessment is provided to address the traffic and transport matters affecting the site and the surrounding area. A second consultation process has subsequently commenced in order for the supplementary submissions to be formally considered by the Council.

In March 2006, as a result of delays to the A14 improvements following a legal challenge, the Highways Agency required the Northbridge development to demonstrate how significantly reduced traffic generation could be achieved. In January 2007, Persimmon Homes and their consultant team, working closely with the Highways Agency, County and District Councils, submitted a new Transport Assessment (TA2) and Travel Plan together with a further update of the Environmental Statement. These documents have been the subject of public consultation and feedback is now awaited.

In January 2007 Persimmon Homes submitted a number of key strategy documents dealing with issues ranging from Drainage to Public Art. These documents have been the subject of public consultation and feedback is now awaited.

Once the outline application is approved this will be followed by separate detailed applications for different parts of the scheme (e.g. access proposals and the first phase of housing and structural landscaping)

Once detailed designs are approved, development will commence
